A virtual guard tour is a scheduled patrol of your property carried out remotely. An operator opens each camera in a set order, checks doors, gates, fences and parked vehicles, and records what they see. If they spot a problem, they use speakers, call police or contact your staff.
Motion-based monitoring waits for something to move. A virtual guard tour also catches the quiet problems: a door left propped open, a gate that did not close, a light that is out, water on the floor or a vehicle that should not be there. It is the same checklist a patrol guard would follow, without the walking time between checkpoints.

It is a remote security patrol. Trained operators check your property through its security cameras on a set schedule, looking at each checkpoint in turn. They intervene through two-way audio or dispatch help if they find a problem, and log every round.
How does a virtual guard work?
A virtual guard combines your CCTV system, video analytics and a person in our monitoring centre. When the analytics flag activity, or when a scheduled round is due, the operator reviews the live video and takes the action set out in your plan: a voice warning, a call to your staff or a call to police.
How often can virtual guard tours be scheduled?
As often as the site needs. Common schedules are every 15, 30 or 60 minutes overnight, or tours at set times such as after closing, midnight and before opening. You can add extra rounds on weekends, holidays or during a high-risk project phase.
Is a virtual guard as effective as on-site security?
For patrol work on an empty property it is often more effective, because the operator can check the whole site in minutes and is never away from the cameras. An on-site guard is still needed for tasks that need hands, such as checking IDs at a door or first aid.
Can virtual guard tours reduce security costs?
Yes. You pay for monitored cameras and scheduled rounds instead of every hour of a guard's shift. Many businesses use tours to replace overnight guard hours, or to cover the hours between a guard's shift ending and staff arriving.
What happens if the operator sees something during a tour?
They follow your response plan. Usually that means a warning through the speaker, a call to police if the person stays, a call to your keyholder, and a written incident report with screenshots and the video clip.
Do virtual guard tours work with my current cameras?
Usually yes. We connect to most modern CCTV systems, including Avigilon, Hikvision, Axis and Pelco. A full replacement is rarely needed. We may suggest extra cameras to cover gaps in the tour route.
